Bonnie Barker

Bonnie has been the Director of Faith Formation since 2006. She is an organized soul who keeps the Youth Ministry Office running relatively smoothly. She loves seeing the joy and excitement on the faces of our children especially when they receive Jesus for the first time; In her "spare" time Bonnie enjoys reading, playing with her cats, and diner breakfasts with her husband.

Faith Formation Grades PreK-6

The Faith Formation Process:

  • Proclaims and teaches God's Word
  • Is committed to enabling growth in faith and relationship to Jesus
  • Meets and follows the guidelines of the General Directory for Catechesis and the National Catechetical Directory
  • Uses texts that are in accordance with the Catechism of the Catholic Church

Faith Formation, formerly Religious Education, denotes more than knowledge of God and the tenants of our Catholic Religion, which are important. Faith Formation speaks of a continuing growth in our relationship with God and with the Church- the People of God. It also includes prayer, worship, and a sense of service to each other. Faith Formation is life long and ongoing.Celebration in Liturgy and service to others reinforces what is taught on the classroom.

Children's faith is first formed within the family. "The role of parents... is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide adequate substitution"(Declaration on Christian Education #3-Vatican II). The Christian community assits you in this important role.

Being instrumental in your child's faith formation helps you grow in your faith. To this end, we offer parent sessions, adult formation opportunities and formation sessions for children.

If you have experienced or are currently experiencing any sort of barrier or alienation between you and the church, feel free to contact the pastor or a staff member so that together we might explore possible solutions.

Volunteers are always needed to help make our Faith Formation Programs a success, if you feel called to serve God in this way, please don't hesitate to contact Bonnie!
